Armed Forces Reserve Medal - National Guard Version
Armed Forces Reserve Medal - National Guard Version
Criteria:
The Armed Forces Reserve Medal (AFRM) is granted to personnel who have completed 10 years of service as a member of a Reserve or National Guard component of the U.S. military. The service can be cumulative, given that the 10 years accumulate and are served over a period of 12 consecutive years. Voluntary recalls to active duty are not counted within the 10 years of service nor is service within the inactive reserves. The AFRM is also given to any member of the Reserve or National Guard who is mobilized to an active duty status. When this is the situation then the 10 year period benchmark is waived and the AFRM is given regardless of time in service. The Mobilization device is given as an attachment to the AFRM in all cases of mobilization to active duty. The AFRM is a service wide decoration for every branch of the military and is given to enlisted personnel and officers.
Special Note:This medal comes in six different varieties and all the varieties are identical on the front of the medal but on the backside of the AFRM is a special symbol that is branch-specific and it denotes each service personnel's unique branch of service. These six variations are U.S. Army; U.S. Air Force; U.S. Coast Guard; U.S. Navy; U.S. Marine Corps, and; National Guard.
