The cannon balls in the yellow square are the arms of the 1st Field Artillery, from which this unit has its origins. The two traditional Hawaiian puloulou-a, or black staff topped with a white ball, is a symbol of Hawaii, the home state of this unit. Also called distinctive unit insignia, this item is worn on the Army Dress Blue (ASU) Uniform.
