United States Army 509th Infantry Regiment Unit Crest (All the Way)
Criteria: This is the unit crest or distinctive unit insignia for the 509th Infantry Regiment. It was originally titled the 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment. It was the first parachute infantry unit of the Army to make a combat jump during WWII. Currently, the 1st and 3rd Battalions are active. The 1st Battalion is out of Fort Polk, LA. And the 3rd Battalion is out of Fort Richardson, AK. Their nicknames are "The Gingerbread Men," "Geronimo," and "G Man." Unit crests are worn on the Army's Dress Blue (ASU) uniform.
