Criteria: This item is the unit crest for the 4th Infantry Regiment. The scarlet color alludes to uniform piping worn by the Band of the Fourth Infantry. The piping itself commemorated the Regiment's capture and reversal of Mexican artillery pieces during the battle of Monterey. The green is adapted from the predominating color for the Regiment's coat of arms. Also called distinctive unit insignia, this item is designed for wear on the Army Dress Blue (ASU) Uniform.
