This crest measures 1 1/8 inches in height. The 1st Engineer Battalion is one of the Army's oldest, dating back to its original formation in 1846. The unit has been awarded many citations and commendations in its long history including the Presidential Unit Citation, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Superior Unit Award, French Croix de Guerre, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and the Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Unit Citation.
