United States Army South (USARSO) Unit Crest (Defense And Fraternity)
Criteria: These distinctive unit insignia (DUI) are worn by the US Army South (USARSO). Their motto is Defense And Fraternity. Front and center on this DUI is galleon which was the predominated ship in the Caribbean area during the Spanish Regime. The cross was the insignia of Columbus, the first explorer of the Caribbean area. This DUI was originally approved for the U.S. Army Forces Southern Command in 1969, it was reassigned for the U.S. Army South in 1987. Unit crests are worn on the Army Class A Service Green and Army Service Uniform (ASU).
