NATO ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) Medal Ribbon
The ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) Medal is a decoration presented to recognize personnel who have participated in the NATO led security mission in Afghanistan. The mission was originally assembled to support the establishment of the Afghan Transitional Administration in Kabul, but in October 2003 it was expanded to cover all of Afghanistan. To be eligible, members must be part of units or staff who have been deployed to the Afghanistan Joint Operations Area (JOA) and have served for 30 consecutive or non-consecutive days from June 1, 2003 to a yet to be determined date. Subsequent NATO awards for participation in other missions may be represented by bronze service stars worn on the award ribbon.
