Humanitarian Service Medal
The Humanitarian Service Medal is a decoration of the United States Armed Forces presented to any member of the U.S. military who has demonstrated commendable conduct in humanitarian military acts or operations. Military acts that the United States Department of Defense has authorized for this medal include natural disaster relief, humanitarian support of refugees or evacuation of non-combatants from a hostile area. Service members who receive the Armed Forces Service Medal or the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal are not eligible for the Humanitarian Service Medal if it is for the same period of service. Subsequent awards are denoted by Service Stars worn on the service medal.
